Drabble Challenge #62

Prompt: sacrifice

As she puts the water biscuits and water gravy on the table, a mother calls for her boys.

"Mom, aren't you going to eat?" the oldest child asks.

"No son, I'm not hungry, you go ahead."

The boys quickly finish off all of the food.

"Did you have enough?" the loving mother asks.

"Yea mom, we had plenty, thanks."

"Good. Now it is time to get ready for bed. School comes early in the morning."

The boys are now snuggled into their beds and their mother is in hers.

Her stomach growls in hunger as she goes off to sleep.
