Role Reversal

“Daddy! Daddy!” a little boy exclaims as he comes running into the room. “Guess what happened at school today!”

The father doesn't reply.

“Daddy?” the excited child prompts his father again.

“What do you want? I'm really busy. I'm trying to work.”

“Never mind.”

. . . .

“Good morning, son!” the elderly father says to his son, over the phone. “Guess what happened at the home today!”

“Sorry, Dad. What did you say?” the son half-heartedly replies.

“I was having lunch when...”

“I'm glad you enjoyed your lunch,” the son interrupts. “Can we talk more later? I really am busy here at work.”
