She hadn’t lost anything...yet. Those on the outside however, saw it differently.
We mimic what we see, until we are told to stop. She was old enough to know what could be displayed, when, and in what company. Without knowing why though, she knew that her pretend world was sometimes found by adults to be disturbing.
Bored with sun and play, her little face relaxed itself into a weary pose. There to capture it was mom. Mom simply documented without judgment, or reprimand. This was pure safety on display. Mom understood her little girl, as well as the world.
