Honor Guard

Through warm summer days and cold winter nights I stand here, a lonely sentinel with but a single purpose for my existence. Family, friends, even strangers are greeted equally, my simple yet powerful message quietly conveyed to all who visit. Some bring flowers, while others bring tears; each is graciously accepted with reverent silence. Years will come and go, the world will continue onward into the future, and those who placed me here will pass; but for me, time stands still. My future is in remembering the past, and I will remain steadfast and unwavering in performing this noble service.
