The Other Demon

Charlie sat at his desk, and glared across the room at Matt, his jaw thrust forward. Matt sat at his computer and scrolled through picture after picture. He sighed with each click. Charlie gritted his teeth, knowing that in thirty seconds… Matt clicked and sighed.

“I HAD to send him back!” Charlie erupted.

Matt sighed again and said, “We’d bonded.”

“YOU CAN’T BOND WITH A DEMON!” Charlie shouted.

Matt shook his head, aware that Charlie didn’t understand. “We liked the same things,” Matt said.

“Eating human flesh?” Charlie retorted.

“He’d bought us tickets to the Georgia game,” Matt said wistfully.
