Drabble Challenge #43

Prompt: take-off

When its time to pull her coverings off,
Gauze filled with necrotic skin that’s sloughed,
No horror movie could produce such gore,
As the picture that into my mind gets bored.

Whimpering seeps deep,
Into my brain,
As we both prepare,
For tears, for pain.

That look in her eyes, I’ve seen before,
That, “Please, don’t hurt me any more!”
It’s the horror of a rabbit’s panicked stare,
Chewing the foot that’s caught in a snare,
As it rips its own tissue, skin and hair.

We peel her apart…
Be steel,
My heart.
It’s time to change the bandages,
AGAIN.
