Drabble Challenge #2

Prompt: defying gravity

Life was heavy on my soul, holding me in place. I was ‘Mom,’ the one everyone could count on — baking cookies, helping with homework, always being there. I gave and gave, until nothing was left.

Then one day everything changed. I saw the sky spread before me, and knew I must find my place in its vastness. I knew there were sights to see, worlds to conquer, a chance for rebirth — if only I could lighten myself enough to take flight.

I jettisoned it all — husband, home, children — because I had to be free, because I had to rediscover ME.
