...or At Least Slow Down

When I was young, my world was filled with time,
but there's so much less of it now.

Helplessly, my life rushes by.
Days pass like hours.
Months pass like years.

In desperation, I dig in my heels, to no avail.
I still slide forward, against my will.

Tick. A week gone.
Tock. Another year behind me.

I claw and scratch, but find no purchase.
My past piles up behind me,
as my future rapidly dwindles down towards nothing.

No strength, no will, no power can stop it.
All I can do is watch, and wait, for the inevitable end.
