The Shadow's Lament

It was 2 AM and Shadow and Reflection were drowning their sorrows at their favorite dive.

“Dude, you’ve got it too easy,” Reflection said as he drank his cheap Hctocs. “All you have to do is follow the fat bastard around. I’ve got to be ready to perfectly mimic his every action. EVEN when he isn’t looking!”

“ref,” Shadow said in his soft whisper, “you proved my point. i’m there all the time, even when there isn’t a reflective surface.”

“AH HA!” Reflection shouted. “Light Source! You have to have one!”

“i’m still there,” Shadow whispered, “even in total darkness.”
