Drabble Challenge #39

Her past was a sparse collection of fragmented memories, adding up to less than a dozen years total, spread across the 45 years of her life.

One by one, she'd blotted out every negative thing that had ever happened. At first, it had only been the traumatic -- those pains too horrific to face. Over time, however, it became increasingly easier to paint over anything that hurt: a death, then an illness, then something as simple as an embarrassment or even just a bad date.

Now she walked through the world with a vacant smile, untouched by pain... untouched by life.
