Drabble Challenge #68

Prompt: abandon
She hadn’t wanted to leave him.

During the "bad years" their life seemed to be unraveling.
They became estranged.
But she didn’t leave.

Then they fought their way back together.
Everything was coming together, and their life held only promise.
She was so glad she’d stayed.

She was out doing errands, and would meet him later.
Her thoughts were of the future they would share.
She didn’t anticipate the truck speeding the wrong way down the street.
She didn’t even see it, until she heard the squealing of its brakes.

She was forced to leave him.
Without even a good-bye.
