Drabble Challenge #77 [Alternate]

Prompt: recovery


I hobble out to the car where Lisa is waiting patiently. “Ready to go home John?” she asks as I gently slide into the seat.

“Yea, lets try to get there before the pain meds wear off!”

As she drives cautiously out of the hospital parking-deck, trying not to hit any bumps, Lisa asks, “Once the cracked ribs and ankle heal are you going to try ice skating again?”

“Not in this lifetime!” I reply with a chuckle. The agony deep within my side makes me grimace with pain and I realize this is going to be a long recovery!
