Drabble Challenge #65

Prompt: late

After years of carefree, dog-free living, the prodigal 'owner' returns. "Hey. I know it's been awhile, but...I was kinda missing my dog. Thought I'd...maybe take her out for a walk or something."

"Bit too late for that now." I glance towards the irregular lump of dirt, patchy green finally beginning to overtake it.

I don't have much sympathy anymore, I guess. Time is a scarce commodity, not to be squandered. Relentless and unforgiving, Time brushes aside theories of his illusory nature--demanding that you choose your priorities, play by his rules...or forfeit experiencing the life you desire.
