Drabble Challenge #109

Prompt: mindless

part 9 of the Wilder Investigations series: An Encounter With Lady Christina

Matt and Charlie heard multiple fists pounding on the iron door. Debris fell from overhead as the door shook in its foundation.

"Astonishing," said Charlie. "The zombies are relentless in their mindless pursuit of us!"

"Who says 'mindless'?" asked Matt.

"What?" replied Charlie as the pounding grew louder.

"The fifties called. They want their pejorative back."

"What does my choice of terminology have to do with the fact that those zombies are about to break down that door and tear us apart?"

Suddenly, the zombie hoard broke through, but the tunnel collapsed, burying them all.

"Mindless," sneered Matt.
