Drabble Challenge #40

Prompt: dreams

Every morning I have the same terrible dream.

I find myself in a bizarre world, filled with pain and confusion, where nothing makes sense. As I struggle to make myself wake up, I begin to forget the real world, and to accept the insanity around me as normal.

Time passes much more slowly there, but finally, thankfully, I do wake up, relieved to be safely back home.

Unfortunately, I will eventually have to sleep again, and when I do, I'll be back there, shackled to the ground by cruel gravity, surrounded by madness and misery.

Until then, I soar free.
