2001: A Space Odd to See

The other day I was discussing 2001: A Space Odyssey with my cousin's daughter. She thought the movie was boring and didn't see why it was considered a classic.

I explained to her that back in the day, we didn't have home computers, and we were all paranoid about Soviets and Martians and whatnot because of the Cold War. The notion of talking computers was scary to us.

End result: I wound up sounding just like the caricature of the crotchety senior citizen, reminiscing about the "good ol' days" when we had to suffer through slightly less convenient living conditions.
