Drabble Challenge #94

Prompt: lost

In Olympics Badminton, they play a round-robin tournament instead of a straight knockout format. So if a team loses a game, they can still play a round against another team. Four teams realized however, if they threw a game, they would get an easier opponent next round and have a better chance of winning the tournament.

When the audience realized the players were purposely losing, they jeered and booed them raucously. They had traveled thousands of miles to see the games, after all. The IOC went on to disqualify the four teams.

It doesn't make sense to win by losing.
