Drabble Challenge #80

Prompt: blood

Avarice floated through the window and landed expertly on the table, missing the crockware entirely. He cocked his black, feathered head toward Massie and said, “She’s coming. Be kind, Mama.”

The door slammed open, jarring everything in the lodge.

“Mama, Mama!” God-Be-Good shouted as she poked her fingers at her mother. “I’ve got my moon’s blood! I’ve got it!”

Massie smiled as she touched and then tasted the blood on her daughter’s finger tips.

“Yes, you do,” she said as she gathered Goodie into her arms and held her close.

“Now I can be a Spirit-healer like you,” she whispered.
