"Come on," I sighed, grimacing at my companion. "I can’t just leave her to find her way home. There are so many people down there today, someone would surely pick her up for a party costume accessory."
"I don’t think Spooky’d be too keen on that," my companion observed.
We gingerly made our way down the steep stone steps—today was NO time to be delayed by having to perform a healing spell. Each step took us closer to the cacophony along the river. Street performers played and sang, juggled and did magic tricks.
But Spooky was nowhere in sight.
